A strong brain is an active brain, just like any other muscle, and this new study proves it. Elder Manage Care (630-638-1489) has a new, easy, drug-free tool that can help to reduce cognitive decline, and it doesn’t even require a doctor, clinic, or prescription.
Another year has gone by, without a cure for Alzheimer's, dementia, or many other causes of cognitive decline - but this year might be a little different, because this time, there's something new.
You don't need a doctor, a prescription, or a visit to the hospital, all you need is someone who cares. Check out all the details about social prescribing, creative writing, and how it can prevent cognitive decline, at https://www.eldermanagecare.com
I don't need to tell you that we're still looking for a cure - you know that. But did you know that there are some promising new treatments that tick all the boxes?
They're easy, non-invasive, super affordable, non-medicinal... I could keep going, but why don't I just tell you what it is?
It's easier than you think... all it takes is a little creative writing.
Fact #1: Cognitive decline is a serious and growing issue.
Research from the National Institute of Health (NIH) shows that “An estimated 6.7 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s dementia today. This number could grow to 13.8 million by 2060.”
While that number is large, Elder Manage Care's new study may highlight a method to help prevent individual cognitive decline, allowing more seniors to continue living in their own homes, for longer.
Fact #2: Non-medicinal home treatment is possible.
Elder Manage Care's study explores a technique known as “social prescribing,” which has been growing in popularity, and allows medical professionals to prescribe treatments that are outside the normal range, but fall within reasonable guidelines.
That means they won't suggest anything unsafe, but they may seem unconventional. Maybe your doctor will suggest playing board games, reading out loud, or doing math problems, for example.
In this study, they prescribed activities such as creative writing assignments, which are believed to help combat certain types of cognitive decline - and it worked.
While social prescriptions cannot replace proper medical care, the study shows that these techniques can be applied by non-doctors - trained staff who have undergone training in these particular techniques.
However, there was a small complication in the masking methods used in the study - and this could be seen as a good or a bad thing.
Traditionally, carers would not know which individuals had received the new treatment, and which were in the control group. However, the study shows that by 6 months into the experiment, the majority of care professionals could determine which clients were receiving the new treatment, and this could be either as a result of poor control methods or because of obvious improvement in their functional outcomes.
Based on the study results, I'm fairly certain it's because of how effective this technique is, but then, I've always believed that your brain is like a muscle, either use it or lose it.
This technique has shown significant promise with no risk from conflicting pharmaceuticals, and with no significant costs, so you should expect to start seeing it in practice soon. Elder Manage Care has already added it to their list of services for seniors, that can be provided in the comfort of their own homes.
That's because there is no catch - it's just creative writing, to keep your brain active.
That way you can stay sharp, and stay living where you're comfortable, for longer.
A spokesperson for Elder Manage Care explained, “Depending on your particular situation, benefits of in-home care may include, but are not limited to, the calming and soothing effect of familiar surroundings, significantly higher comfort levels, more personalized care, tailored menus, potentially lower costs, privacy for the senior and their families, and reduced outside germ exposure.”
