SOLE Fitness Announces Adjustable Elliptical Foot Pedal For Injury Prevention

Dec 30, 2024

SOLE Fitness has announced that they are debuting adjustable foot pedals in their flagship elliptical trainer, the E95, which are designed to minimize the risk of repetitive strain injuries.

The new CEO of SOLE Fitness, Brad White, is pleased to be investing in new elliptical technology, as the device becomes increasingly favored by their shoppers and among American consumers at large. With their new adjustable pedal technology, which they have called the ‘worm drive’, both the pedal’s height and placement and its inwards inclination can be configured using a single dial on their new E95 machine.

The goal of the home fitness equipment manufacturers’ new worm drive is to reduce the chance of users facing overuse injuries while working out on the elliptical.

Although elliptical trainers are increasingly popular for home use—and are often touted as an ergonomic and low-impact workout suitable for the majority of users—research also shows that if not fitted or used correctly, they can contribute to joint pain including of the ankles, knees, hips and low back, as well as to tendon strain.

CEO Brad White said, “We know that not everyone walks the same way, which is why we made the E95 pedals adjustable to fit the way you walk. This adjustment is made using a new dial called the ‘worm drive,’ which allows you to dial in exactly where you want the pedal to be angled. This feature also reduces numb toe effects and sore Achilles tendons, which are common occurrences on other elliptical machines.”

While many elliptical trainers offer some postural adjustability, especially for seat positioning, what SOLE believes differentiates their worm drive is the new inflexion it allows on the pedals, which can now be tilted inwards to 2 degrees. This new feature has been rigorously researched and road-tested by the brand's R&D team, who believe it significantly reduces the risk of repetitive stress or strain injuries.

SOLE Fitness is pleased to be debuting both the worm drive and their adjustable and angled foot pedals on their E95 elliptical trainer, which they consider to be their flagship model, and they hope that this new design will allow for further research into safe and ergonomic elliptical design.

Mr. White added, “Our new foot pedals have been designed with a 2-degree inward slope to each pedal, which we have seen helps to reduce the ankle and knee stress common in other elliptical machines. We are also making the foot pedals on the E95 oversized, with durable foam cushioning, to allow for additional comfort during workouts and to further minimize the risk of repetitive strain injuries. We believe this collaboration has produced a revolutionary foot pedal not found on any other elliptical at any price.”
