Corporate Housing Provider Suite Home celebrates another successful year of partnering with non-profit Move for Hunger, an organization dedicated to collecting and distributing unwanted food
DOWNTOWN CHICAGO, MARCH 1, 2019 -- Suite Home Corporate Housing, the Midwest’s premier short-term corporate housing company, picked up where they left off in 2017 by once again partnering up with Move for Hunger, a New Jersey-based nonprofit focused on making sure non-perishable food items aren’t thrown away in the moving process. In addition to donating $1,500 to Move for Hunger, Suite Home donated 755 pounds of food - the equivalent of 629 meals - to the non-profit in 2018.
Suite Home, a company that offers short-term furnished apartments and corporate housing throughout the Chicagoland and Wisconsin areas, partnered with several apartment communities to collect donations to fight hunger. Not only did the Suite Home operations teams commit to collecting the leftover food items left by Suite Home guests after vacating their short-term rental apartment, but the company held food drives throughout the year at properties such as Marquee at Block 37, Aqua, Gallery on Wells, and The Parker.
Suite Home President & Owner Jennifer Breen joined sales team members, Matthew Tobel, CCHP and Gabriela Bankova, to also participate in the Chicago Rock ‘N’ Roll Half Marathon/ 5K. Their running team raised over $1500.00 to donate to Move for Hunger.
In a letter to Move for Hunger and Suite Home, Kelly R. Maehr, Executive Director & CEO of the Greater Chicago Food Depository thanked the team.
Maehr said “We are grateful for your trust, generosity, and most importantly your commitment to the mission of ending hunger.”
Adam Lowy, founder of Move For Hunger, started the nonprofit back in 2009 in his home state of New Jersey. Lowy’s family ran a moving business for more than 90 years, so he saw first hand just how much food is wasted during a typical move. Because of this, he decided that a nonprofit dedicated to eliminating this waste was in the best interests of many. As such, Move for Hunger is pivotal in the world of food-focused non-profits.
Suite Home continues to partner with Move for Hunger, with Breen joining the organization's Corporate Action Network (CAN) Committee. She will work with the organization to promote the non-profit's mission and grow its partnerships with other members of the relocation and moving industry.
