A Seamless and Comfortable Experience

A sleep technician at Nexus Healthcare, says, "We understand the importance of a good night's sleep and the impact sleep disorders like Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) can have on overall health. Our home sleep study service is designed to be as seamless and comfortable as possible. Patients can now undergo thorough sleep studies to diagnose OSA without the need for an overnight stay in a sleep lab."

This is the step-by-Step Home Sleep Study Brisbane Process:

•Referral Form: The patient will begin by downloading the Referral Form, downloadable from their website, and visiting a General Practitioner (GP). The GP will fill out the form. Please download the form from here: https://www.sleepstudybrisbane.com.au/doctors-referral-form/

•Submission: Request the GP’s medical center to fax the completed form to the Nexus Healthcare fax number (07) 3381-9025.

•Appointment Setting: One of their team members will contact the patient to schedule an appointment.

•Clinic Visit: The patient will attend a clinic for the sleep study set up.

•Equipment Setup: An experienced Sleep Technician will attach a portable polysomnograph (PSG) machine onto the patient to monitor their sleep.

•Sleep Data Collection: The Patient must limit their activities for the night and go to bed early to ensure sufficient sleep data is captured.

•Equipment Return: Patient will remove the PSG equipment from themself the next morning, pack it carefully, and return it to the clinic.

•Analysis and Follow-Up: The Sleep Technician will inform patient once the sleep data has been analyzed by a Sleep Specialist, and the results have been sent to the patient's GP. The GP will then communicate the Sleep Specialist’s recommendations to the patient.

Preparation

The patient will please ensure they have showered and are dressed in comfortable sleeping clothes. Once the sleep study equipment is attached, they will not be able to take it off until they wake up the next morning. Eating, drinking, brushing teeth, and visiting the toilet will not be a problem. However they will not be able to shower or wash their face. If they wish, the patient can bring a robe or a comfortable, extra large shirt for their return home.

The Sleep Technician will take approximately one hour to set up the PSG machine.
