Dec 5, 2018

The first U.S. ballroom dance amateur competitive event under the Freedom to Dance Banner has been announced in Newark, NJ. All dancers are welcome, any age any level.

The first ever dance competition in the U.S. held under the Freedom to Dance banner has been announced in Newark, New Jersey, called the Islander’s DanceSport Challenge and interested parties are encouraged to join in. There are a range of categories, with special attention to seniors and college students ensuring first class experience to all who attend.

"We are both extremely proud and humbled to be given this honor and to help celebrate we have organized a great prize draw pool leading up to the event itself. This means you can win prizes without attending the Competition." said the Islander spokesperson.

The competition will take place from January 19-20 in 2019, and is open to all dancers. It will be held in the Crystal Ballroom at the Ramada Plaza, focusing on amateur competitive dancers.

Plus in collaboration with Islanders, there is a DanceSport Camp Olympia to be held on Monday 21st which includes an array of World Class Coaches, who will teach group lessons, physical endurance classes, rounds and private lessons. This camp is open to everyone, any age and any level.

Dancers don’t need to be members of any organization or federation, which helps to ensure that dance can go back to being what it was meant to be. Quality competitions are available with participation for all as the main focus of the event.

All competitors gain free entry into the ballroom, with dances including samba, cha-cha, rumba, jive, waltz, tango, foxtrot, quickstep and more.

Multi-dance events are also available, with pricing details provided on the URL above. Anyone considering applying can visit Islanders to register or find further information about the competition, accommodation and more.

There are a number of benefits to ballroom dancing, which makes it a great choice for anyone dancing competitively but also anyone interested in taking up a new hobby. As the competition is open to all, dancers of all skill levels are welcome.

This means that it is a great event to aim towards for anyone considering getting into dancing. Ballroom dancing is a great form of exercise, building strength and flexibility, and it also introduces people to a new community of friends.
