The A.L.I.V.E. Active Shooter Survival Training Instructor Certification Course is a 2-day, 7-module course that essentially serves two purposes. The first is to teach you the skills needed to survive an active shooter event. The second is to show you how to present these skills to others publicly. The overall goal of the course is for you to gain certification and start teaching the course yourself.
The first two modules of the course take place before the course even starts. You're expected to read A.L.I.V.E. founder Michael Julian’s book “10 Minutes to Live: Surviving an Active Shooter Using A.L.I.V.E,” which is included with enrolment. You'll also need to complete the A.L.I.V.E. Online Training Course, which is the foundation for all A.L.I.V.E. instruction and the course you will ultimately be teaching to others.
Then, when the course starts, you will take part in a further five modules. These modules include a comprehensive breakdown of the A.L.I.V.E. approach, a review of the A.L.I.V.E. presentation, professional speaking and presentation coaching, teach-back assignments, and marketing training.
The course ends with a final exam, which you must pass to get a Certificate of Completion for the A.L.I.V.E. Instructor Certification Course. Upon graduating, you will be added to the A.L.I.V.E. Affiliate Program, where you earn a commission for every person who enrolls in the online course and future instructor certification courses. You’ll also be given opportunities to teach the A.L.I.V.E. Program on behalf of A.L.I.V.E. headquarters.
The A.L.I.V.E. Active Shooter Survival Training Instructor Certification Course is taught by the company's founder and CEO, Michael Julian. He is a licensed private investigator and security professional with over three decades of industry experience. He is also a published author.
Julian started the A.L.I.V.E. Training Program in 2019. It has since gone on to become part of the corporate security training program for companies throughout the world.
