So how does it work?
Put simply, Dermysk Academy’s program uses training academies built in partnership with medical aesthetic clinics - so as a student, you're located conveniently nearby to actual, paying clients. This makes it super easy for the teaching staff to provide you with hands-on training working with real people.
They have locations open across Canada, with courses in Basic, Advanced, and Master Medical Aesthetics, as well as injectable cosmetic procedures.
Their unique combination of teaching styles allows you to do most of your learning online, at your own convenience, before attending in-person lessons or hands-on training sessions. As a student of the “Basic” course, you will be asked to complete seven online modules before beginning your comprehensive practical training.
Beginning with the online modules, you'll learn about the medical aesthetics industry, the technology it uses, and what makes the procedures effective. This will include a brief section on the physics of lasers and detailed information about the biology of human skin and hair, which yes, might be a little boring. It's important though, because when a client asks you why a treatment works, or what makes it effective - you'll know all the answers.
How long the online modules will take is really up to you. During the practical training, you will work individually with a certified professional to gain hands-on experience in a whole bunch of medical aesthetic procedures, such as fractional ablation, chemical peels, and dermaplaning.
The course also covers a wide range of legal and regulatory concerns, business strategies, and an overview of the medical aesthetics industry, so that you're ready to work from day one of your certification.
To register for the “Basic” course, you must already have either a high school diploma or work experience in a relevant field. Advanced courses from Dermysk Academy can be accessed either using your diploma from the previous level of training or by providing evidence of your previous work experience as a medical aesthetician.
