Ms. Pickren advocates for several interventions that could help address issues of accessibility and equity. These include “opportunity audits”, which ensure equal access to education regardless of language, disability, financial situation, or skin color.
“A great public education benefits the community in multiple ways. It boosts the economy, reduces crime, and builds future leaders,” she stated.
If you’re a parent, you’d be glad to know that she’s advocating for your right to be involved in your child’s education. Like you, she wants to protect your child from government overreach and ideologies that have no place in classrooms.
"Families are the foundation of the communities, and when the schools work with parents, it provides long-lasting benefits to everyone," Ms. Pickren added.
