Get your calendar ready, because Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mississippi is showing the world exactly what makes Mt. Pleasant so special with their upcoming holiday charity events.
Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church wants you to show your Christmas and community cheer by supporting their busy holiday giving calendar.
The very first activity to commence their charitable season of giving and community togetherness is scheduled to take place this Saturday, November 12. This pre-holiday event is a stew dinner fundraiser, where you will be treated to a home-cooked meal of a hearty bowl of stew and cornbread muffins. Like the other events scheduled to take place in November and December, all proceeds you help to raise will be donated to the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department.

The announcement comes on the back of a bumper year of fundraising and charity work in 2021, in which the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church donated $2500.00 to the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, allowing them to purchase new tires for one of their emergency firefighting vehicles.
As such, Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Pastor Dwayne Mayo, who is known to all young church-goers as “The cool pop Preacher”, is particularly proud to be doubling their holiday fundraising and community outreach initiatives this year.
The major event that the church will be holding this November is their Christmas Market, which you can attend on November 26.
The event will take place in the open square in front of the church, or inside, depending on the weather, and the purpose of the event is to bring members of the community like yourself together to raise money for one of its most valuable institutions.
The event’s organizer, Carla Cunningham, also believes that the event offers the perfect opportunity for you to show off your wares if you are a local artisan. The church is keeping vendor permits extremely low cost, with the full sum of your permit donated to the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, and you do not need to pre-book your space.
As Carla explained, “We’re offering vendors and crafters an alternative to some of the high booth fees they’ve been seeing in the region while also offering area residents the chance to see friends, meet new people, and buy unique gifts and baked goods for Christmas gifts and parties, or for themselves.”
For Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, their Christmas Market is just the beginning. Other events community members in Mt. Pleasant, Holly Springs, Slayden and Northwest Mississippi like yourself are invited to participate in include their Advent Bible study series about John the Baptist, which will run for four weeks before Sunday church service, beginning on November 27.
You can find all details of upcoming events posted on the church’s Facebook page.
Pastor Dwayne Mayo said, “The wonderful church family that sponsors our events is a wonderful group of people who I am blessed to pastor.”
Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church is proud to be the beating heart of Northwest Mississippi, and they invite you to share in the spirit of giving this year.
