Scheduled to take place on 1 March, 2025 in Wollongong, NSW, the Festival Of Fun has been created as a place where inclusion is empowered and human diversity is celebrated.
This is the third consecutive Festival Of Fun, explain the organisers, and it was developed in collaboration with ARHG Foundation as a way to support the 4.4 million Australians who live with some type of disability. The event was held on the Gold Coast in 2023 and 2024, and this year it will arrive in Wollongong for the first time, with even more activities.
“Since our inception two years ago, we’ve already become one of the largest participation events for people with disabilities in Australia,” says a spokesperson. “Our goal is to keep growing and to become a global festival of fun with nationwide and international reach, connecting diverse communities through music and celebration.”
Along with a vibrant mix of live music and concerts, the event will also feature a Just Better Care: "Try Me" Sports Arena, where you and your loved ones can engage in stimulating, accessible athletic events, like shooting hoops.
The Expo area will showcase local resources and services that can help enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families, including information booths and interactive demonstrations.
By leading the way in accessibility, the Festival Of FUN team hopes to demonstrate that a world where everyone can participate fully - regardless of ability level - is not just possible but essential.
David (Macca) McFarland, director and founder of the event, says, "I've been working in the disability space as a volunteer for over 25 years and what we've found is that there are no events like this, especially for families. We wanted to make an event where we brought everyone together. At the Festival Of FUN, everyone becomes part of the family!"
